How to use What The Diff – AI powered code review assistant?

You can also generate pull request summaries, control which repositories are analyzed, and receive notifications in Slack, via email, or using a custom webhook.

What The Diff is an AI-powered app that reviews the diff of your pull requests and writes a descriptive comment about the changes in plain English.

What are tokens?

Tokens are used to process the git diff of your pull requests. Large diffs require more tokens. On average, pull requests use around 2,300 tokens.

How does What The Diff work?

What The Diff uses the GitHub/Gitlab API to retrieve the diff of your pull requests and then utilizes an AI model to generate a description of the changes. It does not store your code.

Why do you need full access to my code?

Due to restrictions in the GitHub/Gitlab permissions, What The Diff requires full access to your code in order to read the diff of a pull request.

Does it work with all languages?

Yes, What The Diff supports nearly all programming languages and is able to explain the diff in plain English or other supported languages.

What happens if I run out of tokens?

If you run out of tokens, you can upgrade to a bigger plan or wait until your next billing cycle. What The Diff does not automatically upgrade your plan.

Is it 100% accurate?

The AI is still in beta, so we cannot guarantee 100% accuracy. We recommend trying the free version to see its performance.

Do you store my code?

No, What The Diff does not store your code or the diff of your pull request. It only uses the GitHub/Gitlab API to read the diff.

Is it free?

You can use the free plan as long as it is available. If you need more tokens or want to use it on multiple repositories, you can upgrade to a paid plan.

Do unused tokens roll over?

Unused tokens do not roll over to the next month. It is recommended to select the smallest plan initially and upgrade when needed. Downgrading to a smaller plan is also possible.

How do I cancel my subscription?

To cancel your subscription, log into the platform and click on the 'Cancel Subscription' button. You can also change your plan or downgrade to the free version.

Do you train your AI model with my code?

No, What The Diff does not train its AI model with your code. It does not store your code or the diff of your pull request.
